Regular Piano Tuning Services

All pianos require regular tuning. Whether it’s for weekly enjoyment after work, or used to practice for hours daily, your instrument needs periodic care. For pianos still in use, it’s recommended to have your piano tuned every six to 12 months. By choosing Tim Patterson as your regular piano technician, your piano will receive a comprehensive inspection. I’ll go over your piano from top to bottom with expert attention to detail. After the appointment has ended I guarantee you will have a well-adjusted harmonious-sounding piano.

Fine adjustments during a piano tuning service include:

You can add cleaning services to any tuning service. Having your piano inspected through general maintenance provides another safeguard to guarantee your piano is in the best condition.

Action Regulation Services

Action regulation is adjusting the mechanism on the inside of your piano to perform at a higher level of efficiency. After several months of playing, the felt and leather parts in the action will become increasingly compressed/worn and the moving parts begin to change their position. It's a good idea to request regulation every year to help maintain the proper relationships between the moving parts in your piano's action - especially if the piano is getting a lot of daily use. This will ensure that the piano is in proper tune and that it is functioning properly mechanically as well.

Regulation services range from the price of a tuning (touch up/economy regulation) upward to a complete 2-day regulation, including reconditioning of parts, thorough cleaning, and friction assessment of action parts/repining/key rebushing, etc. Professional musicians may be interested in these more advanced services to accommodate heavy use of their instrument.
