Tim Patterson is a piano technician, composer, pianist, and double bassist from Lawrence, Kansas. He, his wife Sarah, and his two children live in Lansing Michigan with their dog Charlie.
Tim has been servicing pianos since 2017 and teaching privately for the past 12 years. He Studied piano technology with Rick Butler at the Butler school of Piano Technology, and studied with his friend and mentor John Krauss.
In the spring of 2022 Tim joined the piano technician team at Reeder pianos. He is the lead vertical piano technician, reconditioning and regulating all uprights that come through the shop.
Tim also holds a BM in music composition from the University of Kansas and his MM in music composition from Michigan State University.
After his studies, while remaining an active composer, Tim began focusing on tuning pianos, and teaching piano. His passion for improving others, their instruments, and himself as a modern musician is his driving force. After a piano is serviced, the greatest joy is knowing someone can now enjoy their piano to its fullest ability.
When Tim is not working on a piano, he enjoys collaborating with musicians and groups across mid-Michigan. He is a co-founder and composer in residence for the art music ensemble ConTempus, and played with other local groups – notably Limerick, Wisaal, Matt Bliton Band. He is currently a bassist and backup singer for The Dangling Participles out of Lansing Michigan.
